Massachusetts Trainee Requirements

The state of Massachusetts requires that all trainees take 45 hours of primary education.  This includes:
1) A 30-hour course (An introductory course to real estate appraising is recommended)
2) A 15-hour Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice Course

Note:  Both classes are in the red boxes at the top of the class listing on the Appraisal License & Certification Program page.

Both the Basics and the Uniform Standards courses will fulfill the 45-hour Massachusetts requirement.  Once successfully completed, you may then apply to the state of Massachusetts for a trainee license.  See the Massachusetts board link to the trainee application.

With that trainee license you must then work under a licensed/certified appraiser for a minimum amount of 2 years and acquire 2000 work experience hours.

For further licensure requirements, see the Massachusetts Appraisal web site.
